Re: Zeiss Lens Photos and Discussion (see also ZE/ZF/ZM thread)

Good morning, friends. Thank you so much for commenting. And yes, Bifurcator. You would find a great many known names on that graveyard. St. Annen is a tiny place near where I live (it\'s the church, where I have been christened btw), but you would find almost as many historical names there as at the much better known Waldfriedhof, which is just around the corner and is much much bigger. In fact Waldfriedhof is huge, but doesn\'t have such an old centre-of-the-village-church.

Btw what I absolutely love about Berlin: Berlin has grown dozens of small villages together and all of them kept their historical centers, mostly called \"Dorfstraße\": All these village centers have been kept as they where historically, including all their really old churches. All these churches are extremely well taken care of, mostly by engaged members of the church community (just as in my case with St. Annen).

And something what should be known as well. The christian life is well taken care of at these unimposing churches. And some of them were the center of organized resistance and meeting points just as St. Annen when the nazis maroded Berlin. They were the center of organization for many of the known members of resistance as my father and his friends. (Yes, my personal history is tightly anchored within the history of my birth district, as for example my father and his friends having survived the Third Reich founded the Brücke Museum later on and did a lot of more crazy stuff just for the joy of living! )

Yes, I should have written a book about the crazy history of my fathers gang, most of their doing being highly criminal when I still had the chance to talk to all the engaged people in person. One of the crazy stories being, that some of my father\'s friends became architects, building up Berlin again after the war, as for instance the Phiharmony and Staatsbibliothek (Sharoun) or the Europa Center (Pepper, one of the very close friends of the family in those days). For instance my father copied plenty of paintings of Vincent van Gogh (hence my name) and sold them to high ranked US american officers as van Gogh originals, which is the reason, you would find such an overrepresantative number of \"original\" van Gogh paintings hanging in US american officer living rooms! Yes, my father was a counterfeiter for a certain period of his life so, just to survive and feed his family (me in particular). And some of the extra money he earned he gave to that certain Pepper to let him build the Europa Center in the heart of Berlin. Well, history & stories.

And yes, I totally agree, Phillipe. The Planar 50 is stunning. At least it got me a tiny bit closer to the still miles away masterdegree of the \'Order of the Sharpest Blade\'.

And as much as I can say up to now, I seem to develop a loving for the 18 too, as it meets my personal view very well and allows for getting really close to the subject.
