Really, I don\'t know a single person outside a few forum nuts that haves one. Most of them complain text is too small even using 1920 x 1080 on a 24\" monitor. They maybe easy to buy, but they\'d represent a fraction of a percent of the user base. Also 4K video is 4192 x 2086, so > 8MP, a far cry from a 2560 x 1600 monitor\'s 4MP. The next step at least should be 2K video, which current high end monitors could accommodate.
Also most people would rather display this on their 50\" TV than a 27\"/30\" monitor. TV\'s won\'t be moving beyond HD for several years.

I don\'t know anyone with a \"2550x1600\", but I know several with a \"2560x1600\" monitor, including me.... I\'ve also talked to people that run dual 30\" monitors, and none of them complain about text, or want to run things through their TV...
Once you\'ve used a 30\" monitor, looking at a small 20\"-24\" is rather limiting... For development I can open code editors, browsers (many), client docs, ect. without making things too small to see... Try it, you might like it...
Regarding the original post, the first sign we\'ve had that there may be new bodies is the release of the P&S cameras with Digic 5... These are the test beds before Canon releases the chips in higher end products. while in the past it has always taken many months for the chips to appear, it may be sooner this time if they\'ve done more testing.
