Gives you as wide as you need for most situations, and a mild telephoto for anything else. Crop if you need to get more length from either lens.
This, of course, with the idea I wouldn\'t take any baseball photos because I really wouldn\'t care about the actual players on the field (hell, you see one baseball game you\'ve pretty much seen them all....unless you get the random streaker ).
I\'m sorta with dhphoto, I wouldn\'t want to screw around with lenses and gear all the time - remember to actually enjoy the trip while you\'re on the trip and not afterwards when you\'re doing post work
Alternatively, rent / borrow a 24-105 and bring it and the 17-40 with the 5d2. Maybe a flash for \"just in case\" fill light.
