A couple of things: first of all, this part of the Susquehanna is in Maryland, not PA and the Maryland DNR should have been made aware of the situation.

Second, the island is private property with no trespassing allowed. It belongs to Exelon Energy, which owns and operates Conowingo. Had their security been aware of this guy, they\'d have taken their boat out there and arrested him.

And had they not wished to bother, they could have called the Department of Homeland Security which has enacted special regulations for sensitive areas such as hydro-electric dams...

This guy is not only insanely stupid but very lucky that he wasn\'t shot!

Chris is 100% correct!
Call the dam, sorry for the pun, police first then call Cecil County Sheriff. This area is restricted and private property!
I was there last year and 2 fishermen were on the island just fishing and they were retained by the dam\'s police and Cecil County Sheriff escorted them off the island post haste.
Yes a bummer!
But dont be discouraged..go again.
There is also a new eagle nesting/fishing site below the bridge from York to Lancaster Pa. with many eagles(Wrights Ferry, RT30 bridge). Also Curtis Bay, aka S. Baltimore, has 2 nesting pairs right on Rt 10. Very accessable and usually easy to photo in morning.
2 friends were up there Wednesday and the images(not FM members but Nature/Wildlife photographers for Sugarloaf Festivals) were spectacular!
There is an old rr trestle there and they perch upon it and the access is hidden from their view(not really because of their keen eyesight but not as noticable).
A few of us from Frederick County, Md are headed up there tomorrow.
I will post location.
