Re: Leica M8/M9/X1 Picture Thread | |
Ryan, thank you Nesha (the model) has this thing that she is not attractive, so I do have a tough time taking portraits of her.
Joe, thank you!
Edward, as Joe said nice candid pics. A lot of emotions captured and has lots of meaning. I think it is so important to have fun, and just take heaps of shots...AF and zone focusing. For me, the 28 FL on the M9, at f/5.6 or 8, definitely zone focus. The shots are alot more spontaneous. There is a place for all styles of shots
Adam, really nice shot of your fiancee! Tell her the background is great too
With respect to how clean the files, I am not convinced at low ISO\'s. I think it depends on your target for presentation. I have been so used of the style of 5DII files, I was expecting similar from the M9\'s DNG\'s. They are very different. Even though they don\'t look as clean on the screen, printing the files have amazing amount of detail and the noise doesn\'t to translate in the printing process. (I have 2 canon pro 9500II printer.) Also the files are very RAW in nature from the M9, so some noise reduction such as Noiseware Professional works really well with the DNG files, rather than Noise Ninja Pro, which seems to squash a lot of the detail.
Luka, excellent shots! Love the first shot as it has a real art house feel to it I really like colour rendering of #2.
My wish list is for high ISO M10, but in reality of having taken a lot of low light shots now, it has not been an issue. Yes, I am a high ISO junkie, if it is available I think the unusual characteristics of the M9\'s CCD sensor, will have a following for years to come as it is unique. In speaking the Wayne, head guru at Camera Clinic, he did mention the very initial RAW output from the CCD sensors looks horrid, and it is amazing the initial camera processing how draws the information from the CCD output. So it is fair to say, so called RAW outputs from camera sensors have a lot of algorithms applied to even present the so called RAW files.
I was revaluating my gear needs for travelling and on reflecting, I have not once picked up the 5DII for the last 4 months, since I acquired the M9. Why, I cannot explain other than the M9 is me. So much so, I will sell all the 5DII gear, maybe have a seond hand M9 body whilst travelling, or better still the NEX 5/7 with adapter for low light stuff. Really for travelling a light backup is needed. I well aware of everyone\'s differing opinions, and fully appreciate, why everyone is moving in droves to the Zeiss range of lenses with 5DII and Nikons. While my 5DII is very quietly enjoying a break, and if I have no intention of using it for the next 6 months, it will depreciate very quickly before the next model is due.
