Re: Review of the Profoto Batpac

I dont post much, but I cant stand to read this stuff anymore . . .

Again, if you want to buy a Profoto knock-off of my product at some ungodly price (not in the \"review\") be my guest . . . I\'m not going to argue your choice. But my advice: Before you call something a \"review\" clarify your relationship with the company, and actually publish specs and measurements, not \"Gee it cycles fast enough for me and I got quite a few pops out of it and it was bright enough.\"

And if i wanted a knock off of a profoto/broncolo/.... pack and head system i would buy PCB Zeus.

This was followed by Tronix Explorer a year or two later and finally, many years later by Profoto with as close a copy to Vagabond 2 as one could imagine.

Your argument is hilarious because it\'s so flawed. Have you, or anyone reading this ever said who cares?? Did Paul invent the power inverter? Was he the first to put a power inverter on a battery and sell it? I will say he may have been the first to market one specifically for studio lights, but certainly was bit the first to assemble the combo and sell it.

Did Paul invent the softbox? My educated guess is no. Yet he sell\'s softboxes. Should the inventor of the softbox come on to the forum and rip him because he copied the concept? Or should he be applauded that he made an improvement and then sold them at a low cost?

How about radio triggers? I dont see Pocketwizard on here saying Pauls product is inferrior because it wasnt the first to the market.

Is a model-T better then a Ferrari because the model-T came first. No. They share similarities but are different.

Paul, saying you were first to the market is not a valid argument that your product is better. I know I haven\'t read all the reviews that are out there on both products, nor do i care to, im just tired of seeing you claim your products are better because they were first. If you inovate and advance the technology then great, be proud of that, but for heaven\'s sake let it go and accept that there is competition in the market place, and that companies will copy what they think is good.

I will say i do agree with Paul about the comical validitty of of a review on a Profoto website, but I dont think DC Chavez would lie. What is funny - to see is Paul name drop. .

I for one am tired of Paul on here trying to put other manufacturers down and wont buy any more gear from PCB. I have started buying Profoto, Chimera, and Mola because of this. I know I\'m in a different position then most because of my income level and my belief in investment for the longterm. Sorry Paul, I\'m one lost customer, but at least I gave you a reason why.

let the flames begin.

oh yea and back to the OP, thanks DC. I enjoyed the post. Cant wait to try out some D1000\'s and a Batpac.
