But seriously, there is a point here worth making. It\'s quite popular among photographers (who spend more on their photo gear than the average person would on a house) to claim that equipment doesn\'t matter. It\'s all about the photographer and not about the gear. They\'ll typically say that Henri Cartier-Bresson shot the \"Decisive moment\" with a shoe box with a small hole in it (because he could not afford a larger hole at the time). Often such a statement is supplemented with a pretty thumbnail-sized picture taken by a cheap camera.
It\'s a load of condescending rubbish. With a good camera and good glass you can take something as mundane as a statue, not bother with any composition and still get a good picture. To make a great picture you need both the photographer and the gear. Yes, you might get lucky with a lesser camera and get a great shot, but that\'s rare.
I\'ve personally found the best way of dealing with people that claim that the camera is unimportant is to refer to their Leicas as \"point and shoot\" and see them go through the roof
