My question - does this look possible to salvage and restore? The blades have oil so it will definitely require servicing. I haven\'t tried to clean the glass at all.
I haven\'t read everything to see if you have tried yet or not but that doesn\'t look like fungal growth on the glass. If it\'s not then the chances of cleaning it are good. If whatever it is has indeed affected the coating and it\'s a MC then it\'s just gone with no way for a user to salvage it. The paint on the barrel looks bubbled from moisture tho so that\'s shot. You could remove the rubber, lightly sand with 2000 grit W&D paper, mask off the glass and paint it with a high quality spray-paint. If you do that keep the can a bit further away than the instructions recommend. In prep extend everything and then tuck a small rubber band in each crack where the moving parts overlap. If the markings are etched into the barrel surface you can get a tiny brush and repaint those as well. If not you can use inkjet decal media and reprint the markings. I\'ve been really surprised at the accuracy with which I can print to critical measurements on just a home ink-jet.
My question is why would you buy anything on e-bay that have multiple userish looking pictures of the item?
That\'s what I like about Yahoo auctions in Japan. They guarantee exchange satisfaction and handle the moneys. I think there\'s a $10,000.00 limit through that service tho.
Anyway, good luck!
