Cyclocross from Saturday - Fair Hill Maryland

Saturday I was in Fair Hill Maryland for what I think is my last cyclocross race of the year...at least to race. Fair Hill is only 20 minutes from my house so this was a must do race for me.

In a nutshell, the sun was out in full force today so shadows were difficult to deal with at times. One thing to note is at these events, usually throughout the day I find my sweet spots to shoot from and carry those spots out from race to race as the day progresses. With daylight savings though and the sun setting much earlier I noticed that these \"sweet\" spots were changing all the time so
I needed to keep on my toes looking for new locations all the time.

C&C welcome.

Decided to try and shoot a bit wide this week...so I set down the 300 for a bit and use the 14-24 f/2.8 for a bit
Start of the mens Pro race

15 year old Jeff Bahnson - 2 (maybe 3) years running cyclocross National Champion racing with the Pro field this week.

The sun setting late in the day offered some killer light.

3 flash set up, but I messed up this week. I forgot my cable at home so I had to leave my master flash on camera which in my opinion flattens out the frontal light. 2 flashes I had placed to the rear I set to manual this week. Battery life and recycle time is much better. I think next time out I\'ll bring my portable light stand for better directional light placement.

......you can see the difference in lighting throughout the day. The image above was taken earlier in the day - I really need to warm up the WB just a bit - this was more flash and not much ambient.

This image was taken later in the afternoon and the light temperature was much warmier - more ambient an not as much flash.

...and tried a few vertically tight

#8
There was some decent lighting between buildings - placing most of the rider in shadows, but from the waist up in some nice light.

#9
always have to post up a Super Man

....playing around
