I\'m going to go ahead and ask an awkward question - and feel free to tell me \"this is just the way I like it, so bug off!\" :-)
To my eyes, and looking at a calibrated monitor, the colors and contrast seem a bit \"over-cooked,\" and the color balance seems shifted quite a bit in the \"hot\" direction. (And I\'m very familiar with this location and the range of varied light that you can encounter there.)
I note this not because I think it is necessarily \"wrong\" - nothing could be farther from the truth. I understand and believe that there are a million ways to interpret a scene and it isn\'t up to me to say which is better. Frankly, in the end it is just about impossible for me to say definitively what is and isn\'t \"right\" when it comes to this stuff.
What I wondered is, does it look this way to you on your monitor when you create the images? Or is it possible that your calibration is giving you a different color balance than what I\'m seeing? Are you surprised when people say that the saturation and contrast seem rather strong, or is that the effect you intend
Again, I know that bringing this up may be a sensitive thing - but I note that a few other posters seem to be hinting at the same sort of thing - making me wonder if maybe we aren\'t seeing quite what you want us to see.
Please accept my apology in advance if this comes off as some kind of snooty comment - it isn\'t meant that way.
As for the question, I\'d pick the upper part of the first one and the lower part of the second one as working best on my monitor.
Take care,
Dan
