This is why the camera body matters more than ever before. Glass is terrific, but a powerful sensor makes it really shine. And vice versa, of course.
OTOH, if he didn\'t have a lens with f2.8 & 300mm he couldn\'t have got the shot either. I think the D300 + 200mm f2 would get it at ISO 1600 with no trouble. Anyway, the important thing with this shot is the light. Where I live there are currently millions of migrating birds and thousands of public places to find them. I was out this morning, in fact. Left my Nikon home and took my Beretta 12 ga. though.
