I had a cloudless sky for a consistent (albeit specular) lighting ... so I gave it a stab. All shot manual @ 1/400 f/8 and manually focused on the pumpkin stem with a 2.5x angle finder. Subject was never moved, tripod was relocated @ 90 degree intervals at measured distance. Hand held meter ... 1/3 stop under.


Three lenses
C/Y 80-200: 80mm @ f8
Canon 28-135: 80mm @ f8

C/Y 35-70: 35mm @ f8
Canon 28-135: 35mm @ f8

80mm from 8ft
35mm from 4ft

Front lit & side lit for each
Medium Jpegs straight from camera (via flickr)

Looks like all f/8\'s are not created equal

150mm @ 15 ft 1/400 f/8 ... any guesses to what lens?
