it takes a long time and the 17-55 is a fine lens
not sure it would make sense for them to do that for a long while
they don\'t call EF-S L, it already uses L design internally (if maybe not L build for that one)

Strictly speaking there is no such thing as an L design per se, but at the time of the 17-55 they really hadn\'t used much in the way of low dispersion glass or fancy aspherical elements outside of L lenses. Anyway the 17-55 is sharper than 24-70L,24-105L and uses exotic elements and is priced as if it were an L.
