Disassemble & Clean My Own Lenses?

Incredible thread so far. My thanks again to all. The fog is lifting ....

It took me a while to find this RUBBER STOPPER dingus (for removing the filter ring) If anyone else looking for the same, Micro Tools calls this a \"Lens Ring.\" I\'m ordering the gum rubber set.

QUESTION: Tom Harpstead writes, above: \"You will need to hollow out the center so that the stopper does not touch the front element. \" This kit already seems to have hollow ceters. Can I assume Tom was referring to modifying something you can find in (say) Home Depot?
---------------

Question re the spanner:

Is it enough to get the A, B & D blades, or do I need all five? Also, which is better, the standard handle, or the long handle?

There\'s also this vertical type:
http://www.micro-tools.com/store/item_detail.aspx?ItemCode=SP1
It\'s much cheaper than the other type, and would seem to offer more leverage, but it doesn\'t come with interchangeable tips. Is that a problem?

Jim Buchana says he uses a $30 spanner wrench, which is shockingly inexpensive. Jim, which one specifically do you have?

I\'ve been gathering info as I can, and have also read the Tomosy book (not quite as helpful as I had hoped, but still worth reading)

OK,

So I\'ve been gathering info as I can, and have also read the Tomosy book (not quite as helpful as I had hoped, but still worth reading)

It took me a while to find this RUBBER STOPPER ding that keeps getting mentioned (for removing the filter ring) If anyone else looking for the same, Micro Tools calls this a \"Lens Ring Tool Set.\"

OK,

One thing still has me completely stymied:

Where do I get this RUBBER STOPPER dingus? None of the articles I\'ve collected explain this.

I don\'t see one listed on Micro Tools, either.

If I had this, plus a spanner, I could at least get to the front element on all my lenses, where most (or all) of the watermarks seem to be.

I\'m also still clueless as to which spanner I need. Is it enough to get the A, B & D blades, or do I need all five? Also, which is better, the standard handle, or the long handle?
