Have you ever tried to use the on-board Commander Mode on a Nikon camera? I owned two D300s and found this feature dramatically increased subject eye-blink, to the point that I just couldn\'t use it for photographing people. A 5D with an ST-E2 is more discreet and you gain a very useful focus assist. (Nikon has a similar trigger unit).
I bought the 5D2, incidentally, after seriously evaluating the D700. I found the 5D2 was just in a different league...
