The body does have a good idea what the focus position is, though, as the current fourthirds cameras record it in the Exif. If the manufacturer so chose it doesn\'t seem it would be difficult at all to display the approximate (comparisons of the Exif value versus photos of rulers show mixed results) focus position on the LCD. A \"go hyperfocal\" option would be trivial as well.
