Just buy the 5D and get on with it. You can find it for about $1200 and by all accounts is the camera you want. Probably $1500 with a grip.
Buying the even older 1DII will be a disappoinment unless you really need a pro body and are willing to lug it around. It is noisy, has some banding issues, and is heavy. Yes, it is weather sealed, looks cool, built like a tank, and has a fast shutter....but you have not indicated that means anythhing to you.
