Re: Voigtlander Color Skopar 20mm f3.5 SLII

Lets see how polite I can stay here...admittedly a challenge for me under the circumstances.

I\'m sure 5D/II owners can only hope your \'confidence\' proves justified -- especially since lenses from manufacturers with longer registration distances than Nikon\'s (46.5mm) that clear FF 1 series models (EoS registration distance = 44.0mm) with no issues WILL foul 5D/II mirrors (again it varies by 5D).

Then there are Leica lenses (registration distance = 47.0mm) that will easily clear FF 1 series (and most 5D) mirrors that will foul Nikon FF mirrors and thus can\'t be converted for use on same as a result (see leitax web site).

Anyway, I made my bit. As a CV fan, I\'m looking fwd to seeing what this can deliver - regardless of what it clears (I\'m sure everything) or doesn\'t.

Now back to your regular scheduled programming.

Of course there are no issues mounting this lens on a 5D.

So no clearance issues like the Leica 19mm? That\'s good. From the pics I\'ve see of the lens, I couldn\'t tell how far it would stick into the mirror box.

It sounds like Voigtlanders are more expensive in Japan. So the US price may be lower than the conversion price of 55K JPY.

Hmmmm two out of three so far.....

US companies more aggressively lower their prices and profit margins than anyone in Japan would ever consider. THERE CANNOT BE ISSUES ON THE 5D. This is an f-mount lens. If it clears the Nikon it will have no problem with the 5D. Maybe you haven\'t shot a lot of Nikkors on your EOS Digital, but its very simple.
