I have to disagree on both points. Canon\'s 35mm f/1.4L has great bokeh, so it can be done (granted, the 35L is far both expensive than the 35G). And the 50G has very nice, smooth bokeh in general and particularly in comparison to the 50D. The only reason people aren\'t running around touting the 50G\'s bokeh is because the Sigma 50mm f/1.4 has such distinctively smooth bokeh wide-open. Stopped down to even f/2 it\'s a more level playing field and by f/2.8 the Sigma and Nikkor 50\'s are virtually identical in terms of bokeh. The 35G\'s bokeh isn\'t just \"less than stunning\", it\'s downright ugly in some situations.
