Just a FYI. You can take it to Irvine (Carry In) but don\'t send it there unless you have a shipping label from them that is to Irvine. I was advised by the staff there that it was \"supposed\" to go to VA for this problem, but they would take care of it for me since I brought it in.
I live very close to the Irvine center.
I physically took mine (1DS) in on Weds and had it back yesterday with the \"fix\". I have NOT had a chance to test it yet to see if any improvement. I use the outer (upper) focus point all the time for vertical portrait shots and I usually get about a 60-70% keeper ratio using that point. Using center, I get about 90% so there was definitely a difference between the two. If the upper/side points can perform like the center point, I\'ll be very happy. BTW, I use all F2.8 or better lenses and 95% of the shots I take are in AI Servo.
I will post if there is any improvement after I get a chance to test it this weekend.
