I mean there have basically been NO posts regarding the original issues that affected \"some\" 1Dmk3\'s here or almost anywhere for ages. And i cant even remember seeing a post regarding the issue Canon are recalling on.

Oh yes there were. We\'ve had plenty of threads on the AF idiosyncrasies. I started one myself a few months ago: https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/693695. Is it related to the fix Canon is offering? I don\'t know, but I\'m willing to try it out.

Two other factors contribute here: 1) a lot of us got sick and tired to read we don\'t know how to use our cameras so we work around the problems we have and stopped asking for solutions on the internet and 2) a lot of us got sick and tired by the way Canon handled our problems and switched to Nikon.

In fact almost everyone using them (as opposed to those who talk aimlessly about them) is absolutely stoked with the quality of the AF and its accuracy.

See my points above.

I mean just take a look through the wildlife threads to check out some stellar MK3 images. So Canon come out doing the \"right thing\" that there is an isue with some units regarding off center focusing and the world has stopped.

The 1D3 is capable of landing the most wonderful images and I don\'t think anyone has aver disagreed. If it weren\'t I would have sold mine a long time ago. It just takes me a bit of extra work that I wasn\'t expecting from a 1D-series and I could do without, like taking every image at least twice just to be sure. My 5D has a more accurate AF system. But as said: I\'ve managed to work around it. Doesn\'t mean it doesn\'t have a problem, at least for some of us.

I mean i have used an off center focus point in two years of using both cameras maybe 6 times with no probs what so ever so mine are staying in my bag.

Wait a minute. Let me get this straight: you state you\'ve used off-center focussing 6 times without a hitch and yet you ridicule everyone who uses off-center focussing 80% of the time and encounters problems and for whom this fix is? Wow! That\'s just like venturing opinions on a camera one doesn\'t own, isn\'t it?

As for Nikon maybe guys thinking about jumping ship may want to check out there board and the issue about metering which is has been popping up since release on the D3.

Might well be true. The D3x seems to have a bunch of problems of its own. The grass hardly ever is greener even though it might look that way. It\'s all about compromise.

Canons biggest mistake on the 1Dmk3 was making the AF so advanced and customizable that 20% of the guys using them still have no idea how to set up the fastest most accurate AF i have ever used. The same people who expect a formula one car to set itself for every track it drives on all by itself.

There you go. See my comments at the top. It\'s comments like these that put a lot of us off and made us shut up. News flash: even Canon seems to disagree with you. If it were so darn perfect, why would they issue a recall? Please enlighten me (for once).

Sorry but most of those guys should of stuck with P+S cameras and leave the real gear with people who have some idea what they are doing...and yes im tired of reading pulp form people who have no idea,no experience and dont even use the gear.

You\'ve got a lot of nerve and I\'d say that\'s probably your strong point. I just hope you put it to good use too.
Have a great day,
Emile
