Re: Anyone can Trace

Okay so I\'m a total newbie here....

But...

Wedding photography is a commercial venture. Let\'s be honest. Nobody goes into it for only the \"art\" of it. And like all commercial art forms, certain styles become popular. It happens in ALL commercial art forms; graphic design, music, corporate art, photography, popular fiction and film.

I have a film background. If you want to say, become a screenwriter for A LIVING, you don\'t work on avant guard indi scripts, you write rom-coms, horror scripts, action and adventure scripts, and, more likely than not, they will have similarities to other films. This is what the commercial industry of Hollywood filmmaking craves.

I would guess that the same is true with wedding photography. Brides see certain work. They want their photos to look like what they\'ve seen and so on. It\'s a circle that feeds on itself until once in a blue moon, a new technology, or that-once-in-a-decade image maker comes along and changes the face of what we see. But then the circle begins again. Everyone wants to do what that person has done, and the people they are selling their product to, the BRIDE, wants her photos to look exactly like what she\'s seen.

This is the nature of commercial art.

Just my 2 cents.

I love this forum... and yes, I\'ll probably copy someone. Sorry in advance. Just realize that you should really take it as a compliment. I love your work. My bride loves your work. And she wants my work to look just like yours.
