Bokeh is very much related to how shallow the DOF is. The difference in DOF between FF and crop is about the difference you see by closing down a stop. When you use the 85 1.2 wide open on a crop, you\'ll get DOF equivelant to what FF gives you for about 2.0. Also the crop gives you a FOV of about 135.

The DOF on the 85 1.2 wide open, is VERY shallow. Many people prefer to stop down a little, for more margin for error and simply deeper DOF coverage.

I had an 85 I. It\'s lovely, but I didn\'t like carrying it around at all. If I\'m in the mood for primes, I put a 24 1.4 (I) on my 5D and a 50 1.2 on my 40D and have at it. (The 50 delivers a ton of lovely blurry soft bokeh, even on a cropper, and at 1.2, it\'s not quite so unforgiving as the 85 is at 1.2... way less bulky and intimidating to folks, too. Also, the famed focus shift is really a very slight thing on my copy; about 3/8\" at 2.8 at 2\', worst case. Never the less, I do miss my 85 once in a while)
