\"Thanks Dawie,

I thought that was the case. I guess I will stick to my eBay wireless triggers. For $30 they work on most Canon DSLRs at distance of up to 100 yards\"

What remote is this? thanks, John

If you search ebay for \"canon wireless remote\" you will find several. The one I am currently using looks like the one at the address below. But, I got it from a different seller.

http://cgi.ebay.com/For-Canon-5D-20D-30D-40D-50D-Wireless-Remote-Shutter_W0QQitemZ220335800978QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCamera_Camcorder_Remotes?hash=item220335800978&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1234|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A0|293%3A1|294%3A50

So will this work with the 5D II and 5D? Any issues at all? The price sure is right but how does the quality seem? Having lived in China I know there are good and bad, just like anywhere. I also do electronic work and I bought a soldering iron while there for $2.25, yep that is cheap. It looked good and I figured it would last for another year while there but I still use it and like and prefer it to my professional soldering irons that cost 50 times as much. I am still using the same tip, which has lasted about 20 times longer than any other I have ever had for the amount of work I do.
