Could I suggest we reserve threads like this for people to post the image(s) they took in the last year that they feel are those about which they feel the most emotionally attached, or ones that they are most proud of, and not for questioning a photographer\'s decision to include his or her image in the thread, nor for impugning their motives for the inclusion of said image(s)?

Dann, the challenge with posting a shot like yours is that it is inherently presented without the benefit of the explanation you ultimately offered. Lacking your follow-up, all we see is a young ballplayer crying (in pain, physical or emotional, we can\'t tell) and an adult presumably bending over to offer him comfort, which is to most people, more sad than poignant or moving.

IMO, this is one of the biggest challenges of still photos, and why I personally find truly great sports shots to be so absolutely remarkable - the very best ones tell a story without requiring a follow-up explanation, or even a caption, for that matter. Not every picture is worth a thousand words, but the best of them certainly are, and the thousand words are rarely spoken.
