Depending upon what you define as \"mushy\" I suspect your camera is going to come back the same. If you do a search on 5D (Mark 1 or 2) you will find that many people have noticed the shutter feels different than the xxD or 1 series cameras There is not as much of a point where the shutter gets hard and you have to push past to get shutter release. The 5 series is just that way.
