There\'s a reasonable and recently updated 5d2 vs 1dsMk3 test using the same RAW converter with 100% crops here:

luminous-landscape.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=29821&st=0#entry240105

There\'s color noise that\'s not present in the 1dsMk3 files esp in the dark areas, yet the 5d2 is picking up more details there.

Color fidelity to me looks slightly more natural on the 1dsMk3. It will be interesting when the high ISO comparisons are up.

Nothing to cancel an order over

Problem with Derryck\'s test is he used DPP for the 5DII and ACR for the 1Ds. Really need to see both using CS4 ACR 5.2 with the same \"Adobe Standard\" profile.

As I said, he updated the test and used the same RAW converter (DPP).

We know the performance of the 1ds3 sensor and the 5d2 isn\'t far off. I don\'t think it will outperform the 1ds3 in noise performance, perhaps the 5d2 is around 1/2 a stop behind.

1/2 stop is large, why in the world would it be half stop behind the 1dsmkiii if the reduced the CFA and improved the amps?
not that i have a 1dsmkiii to compare with, but it sounds strange

I agree.

Looking at other RAW samples that are now available at base ISO I can\'t see that same level of chroma noise at all. User experience is saying 1 stop better noise performance than 1ds3.
