I think it would be impossible to find a better starter kit (even more than just a starter kit) than this for Nikon. The photos from the D50 are amazing and the D50 has the focus motor that works with so many more Nikon lenses than the D40 or D60 (no focus motor). The Tamron 17-50mm is so much better than any kit lens and has a constant f2.8 through the range. An amazing combo.
