It\'s absurd to do a straight comparison between these two images. One was shot under flash lighting at iso 200 with a 200mm lens at f11 and 1/250th, and the other was shot in contre-jour lighting with a 50mm lens at f2 and 1/100th. Such a comparison will tell you nothing whatsoever about the differences between the cameras, and is likely to be very misleading.

Brainiac I do not disagree with you on this, but it should be said that this is done here by most in any case. People are basing opinions about ISO, Noise, etc. on sample images. These images I used come from the Nikon and Canon sites respectively. I am sure that whomever put them up use them as a marketing tool. So why can we not use it for the same reasons?

I will disagree however that it would lead to misinformation. How can comparing images lead to misinformation? We are photographers after all, we take images, and we compare them.
I do not have to shoot in the same light in the same environment to have a gut-feel that something from a certain camera is not to my liking, or that something is just damn good.
