Ok, so after really looking through the feature set, there are a few useful things that people seem to be overlooking a little because they didn\'t get one feature they really were hoping for. First off, the battery status feature is really useful. I always hate looking at the battery on the lcd and just getting full, half, and empty. you never really know where you\'re at.
The weather sealing actually seems quite nice, and I think canon is actually playing it down just so people don\'t go crazy with it and start snorkeling
The af on button is great. I use that a lot on my 1dsmkII and it was welcome to me when upgrading from a 5d.
The HD video feature is huge. HUGE. sure some people think, meh, but in the end things are starting to blend in the way images/video is presented, and this will just help us have even more creative possibilities. Sure, its only one frame rate/resolution, but at least its hd and we get to shoot through 35mm lenses on a huge sensor. Most video guys would kill for that alone. my friends frequently use expensive contraptions to use manual focus lenses to get a shallow depth of field with their digital video cameras.
Next, the screen is a welcome update. The IR filter also looks to be interesting.
I guess my point is that we should stop complaining that the d700 is so much better. It has better autofocus and wireless flash control. Nothing new there. Nikon always does that. Sure, canon should change that, but in the end I want a better file. I want to print and have better colors, less noise and more megapixels for my clients when they want a big print, or something is going into an ad and will be 2 meters wide on a bus. This does that at a really great price point. I\'m selling my 1dsmkII and getting a couple of these.
