Maybe they will really surprise us by merging the 5D and 1D lines. To do this, they would need to make the 1D4 as cheap as the original 5D was on introduction, with the prospect of adding a cheap amateur full-frame camera in the near future. That would certainly attack the D700 and α900 where it hurts. Beat them on their own patch, while also dealing with the $1200 price bracket. It would also explain the prism and hide over the bottom of the camera in the moon shots. I know this is a highly fanciful conjecture - I\'m just having a bit of EOSfun.
