I am well aware it is a full moon. My point (which is completely irrelevant in this most irrelevant of threads, which I guess makes it kind of reverse relevant in a double negative kind of way) is that the full moon is not being celebrated, according to the holiday.

I didn\'t infer that the full moon was being celebrated but rather the Autumn Moon. My point is that the full moon represents full illumination, as indicated by the Canon ad, and therefore will reveal what is being hidden from our view.

I base my prediction on Canon\'s advertisement utilizing the moon\'s light to reveal the new camera. 9-15-08 is a Full Moon and 9-16-08 is a National Holiday in Japan celebrating the Autumn Moon. My guess it will be announced on 9-15-08 prior to the Autmn Moon celebration.

You are right! Japanese culture is based on Chinese Culture. If you look at Japanese words, most of them are Chinese in origin. Legend has it that long, long ago, an emperor wanted a herb that when eaten will lead to immortality. So he sent his subordinates to search all China for the 3,000 of the brightest and most capable of young men and women to the island of Japan to search for this herb.It was said that they never found this herb and as a result they never returned for fear of retribution. Of course the 3,000 young men and women weren\'t the brightest for it was an impossible task. But they bright all right ; the brightest still remained in China.

So to the Japanese, mid-autumn is an auspicious occasion. It is a time of the mooncake festival! Enjoy with Chinese tea it\'s a fantastic experience. Come on try it whilst we wait for news of the 5D replacement.

AUTUMN RIVER SONG
The moon shimmers in green water.
White herons fly through the moonlight.
The young man hears a girl gathering water-chestnuts:
into the night, singing, they paddle home together.
Li Bai 701-762 AD, Tang Dynasty

ummm...ok...

Japanese culture is influenced by the continent-yes...based on...no.

And 9/15 is Senior Citizens day, not full moon day.
