Tuannie the manual has it 7.6 lbs. This is the newer version pre-VR, so it isn\'t bad. My problem is that I am a left foot amputee and moving the camera, lens and tripod is now becoming quite difficult for me. Thanks. Terry. I just wanted to know the weight. I have been looking around for a telephoto but good one seem to be super heavy. I hate weight. I don\'t even like having D3 bodies because of weight.
I know... but it is the only way to get out there when you need to.
I might add that I believe that the 500 is truly the best overall choice for long teles if you shoot variety because you have variable range with the great 1.4 and 1.7 TC\'s... the 400 is too short and 600 puts you in a bind if you want to shoot anything other than road racing or maybe football... it might be too long for football too Just my $.02
