same car & driver, same location, different angle couldn\'t decide which one i liked better

21farms,

Very good images due to a minimalist approach, clean foreground and backgrounds - classic ingredients to succesful sports images. Good movement in the foreground without the need for a blurrred background. I prefer the second image re composition as the car is entering into the picture with space to the left - would fit a magazine double page spread and allow for text over the blue sky, something top quality magazines look for. Could do with a slightly tighter crop at top and base, not too much though.

Although I am a fan of high contrast images your pics have a nice feel to them because they are of medium contrast, an almost metalic feel to them.

One thing I have drummed into both of the students that have worked for me, on the professional golf circuit, is that the background is more important than the subject - after all the subject performs at a fixed location, not always to the photographers liking, however it\'s up to the photogrpaher to decide where to place the subject through VERY careful choice in relation to the background.

The slightest background distraction, unlless the forground material is so captivating, will lead the eye away from the photographer\'s message.

I have never shot a golf event without walking the course and checking every available angle from tee to green before the event. My advice to those, who wish to shoot sport, is to do your research and plan for possible eventualities in relation to the best backdrop and your images will dramatically improve. It might mean lying fully prone to get rid of a distracting rope.
