I have read that you can use a USB-C cable remote in one of the ports on side of camera. They are cheap on Amazon, I’m going to try one:

The 2nd one is USB-C, but the first one looks like that Multi Terminal connector that Sony had on the a7rV and older cameras. The a7rVI has two USB-C ports unfortunately.

The first one also terminates in USB-C. If you looks closer you can see there is a 2nd cord as an extension when needed, which fits in between the remote shutter pad and the USB-C termination. 2.3ft for the standard USb-C cable and the extension if needed adds 4.3ft. The shutter also has a hold function which you are looking for.
