Not anymore. In software, this has never been the case - it's always been a winner-takes-all business. Same with semiconductor fabrication: the industry has been consolidating for years now.
Back to your point: The future belongs to the Canon+Sony duopoly. They're far ahead of everyone else in fabs and software. Everything else is just chinesium in the making, and will be cut off from the West due to the inevitable decoupling.
