Dan: Thanks for your in-depth, insightful comment. Really appreciate hearing from you. . .what were your primary musical instruments? Your genre (rock, blues, jazz, folk, polka, etc.)?
(Didn't have on my website 'cause I recently completed this image.) Tom.
My musical instruments started with the piano( 8 years old), didn't last but a few years and we moved to Maryland from Iowa, then was the electric bass guitar. Both a standup model, Gibson-EB1 1969(has a pedestal in the shoulder strap bottom connector), Fender Precision Bass 1963, Fender Jazz Bass 1975. I had a PRS(Paul Reed Smith electric bass) that I incorporated my photography on the bass's neck with pearl inlay.
I play ONLY 4 string basses. My hands are very small and fat( Italian herirage). I had to learn "syncopation" because of this.
My best friend in elementary school was from a C&W family...He formed a band but had no bass player so I got involved...
Played with various groups until college....after my 6 years of military service I took up session playing for local guitar talents. to relieve the stress of my job.....rest is history.
I play all genres but my most favs are electric blues, Delta blues, Funk, progressive rock, pop, doo-woop, disco, go-go, Country and NewAge-Ryan Farish(Geo Strait, Patsy Cline....Yes, Asia, Pink Floyd, Saga-Canadian group, The Alan Parson Project, Joe Bonomassa, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Pat Travers, Duran-Duran(John Taylor), Tears For Fears, and most British blues bands/groups, and their "offshoots" and what they call "Smooth jazz").
My neighbor is Scott Ambush of Spyro Gyra.
Polka not so much but while in college I did do a few gigs in East Baltimore's ethnic heighborhoods.
I was the official photographer for the Washington, DC area's "Capital Jazz Fest" for 20 years.
I stopped permanetly in 2017 due to family issues.
FM was and is "home" to a few FINE musicians. Jules Alexander, co founder and bass player with the pop group "The Association", Ian Cattel, bass player with "Brit Floyd", Ted Ellis, "Pa. Guitar man", Rich(newyork), Peter Figen, Guy Erez-,Alan Parsons, "Strad"- violin....and a few others.
Fred's website has been a home for many musicians!
Thanks for asking Tom!
