€349,00 for both, both basically the same size. 58 mm filter thread, 350g and 69 × 78 mm for the 35, 365g and 69 × 76 mm for the 55
For comparison, the Sony 35mm 1.8 is 281g, 65.6 x 73mm. So a bit bigger, but you're getting an aperture ring, hopefully better weather sealing, and supposedly better handling of CA, for a much lower price point (even comparing the Sony's used priced).
I originally moved from using the Sony 35mm 1.8 to the Sony 35mm 1.4 GM, mostly because I wanted (in terms of priority): better handling of CA, better weather-sealing, and an aperture ring. If the Viltrox EVO delivers what it is promising, I'll almost definitely buy it.
Right now, I love the GM for when I want the best pictures or know I'll be dealing with low light, and recently got the Zeiss 35mm 2.8 for the rest of the time. But this feels like a great compromise between the two. But would I sell the GM then? I don't know...
I’m definitely considering buying the Viltrox EVO 35mm f1.8 based on its size and weight since I want a lens smaller than my FE 35/1.4 GM to pair with mu compact ‘C’ bodies and this might be it. Will have to consider how it compares to the Sigma I-Series 35/2.0 DG DN though. Can’t wait to see how much it will cost here in the US.
