Here's the thing. As the photographer, you control whether you get "simplicity" or something more flexible with an ILC like the XE5 or XT5, etc.

When you want that simplicity, you can just stick a 23mm lens (or whatever your one-lens default is) on the camera and leave everything else behind. That's what I do with my XT5 most of the time.

But when it is useful to have alternatives you can choose that approach, too.

That said, while I made a different choice, I can see having an ILC and a fixed lens camera like the X100vi in some cases. There are several potentially useful ways to integrate the two.
