Quick update from Noel Kempff…
I just wrapped up the river portion of this scouting trip in Noel Kempff Mercado National Park and am now working my way back across Bolivia.
Photographically, the river corridors here are fascinating — a mix of dense forest right to the water’s edge with pockets of open grassland, which creates some interesting backgrounds for water birds and primates along the banks. The overcast conditions we had several days made exposure a bit tricky with the 600 PF, but the light was actually quite nice for birds against the forest edge.
Rather than duplicate the full travelogue here, I’ve started a running trip report over on the BCG forum where I’m posting daily notes from the river. I’ll add photos there once I get home next week and get everything into Lightroom Classic.
Because a few people here have asked about access to this region, I’ve also put together a page describing a small wildlife photography expedition I’m planning for late April / early May.
• Timing will likely be late April / early May, though we could potentially run as late as mid-May while the Paucerna is still navigable.
• The trip will be limited to 2–4 photographers (three is probably ideal).
• This could pair nicely with a Brazilian Pantanal trip, with arrival possible via Puerto Quijarro.
Once I’m home and have everything processed I’ll post a few images here as well.
