Just for a pricing comparison the 40mm FL lens I use with my Fuji X-T5, the C/V 27mm f2 Ultron, cost $595 or $100 less than the new Septon. It has become my favorite lens out of the 8 I own for the X mount. It is by far the smallest lens, but has great IQ and is a joy to use. Well worth the cost!
For my A7CR, my smallest lens is the Sonnar 35mm f2.8 ZA, which I got reconditioned for $599 back in 2019. The price has dropped over time for this 12 year old plastic lens and it is still around $650 new. The Septon at $699 does not seem out of line, given it build quality and added f-stop.
