Very nice scene of Huangshan Mt., Joshua. I have been there once, in 1986. I remember I had a Yashica film camera. At that time very very very few Chinese had cameras, maybe 1 out of 10,000. There were no funiculars that time, after climbing up and down the mountains for 3 days, my legs were shaking for more than a week. I was in travel business so they allowed me to stay at the "best" hotel on the mountain top, which had a mud floor lobby. I was assigned randomly to share a room with an older gentlemen who was a photographer for a newspaper. He had been up on the mountain top for several days, waiting for the famed "sunrise in cloud sea" of Huangshan Mt. I may take a trip there next time when I go to China again.
Thank you, Doug! Because of the difference in the weather conditions, I walked away with significantly more keepers from Mt Huangshan than from Zhangjiajie. I even got the sunset and sunrise in Huangshan. And, I got the sunset "in cloud sea" one day but the following day, it was way different, making me feel like I was at a different location completely. Yes, they do have cable cars, yes, more than just one. And still after getting off the station, you still have to hike a fair amount. It took me about 1.5 hours including a few stops to rest and to take pictures. There are a few hotels up there, quite nice actually. Yes, I have to hike to scenic spots from the hotel I stayed, about 30 minutes or so, But definitely worth it. You should go back there, for sure.
