I need more time with it. So here’s what I have so far.
I really really really enjoy having the control ring on my glass, especially when I’m using the ZF. I use it for ISO. So that rules out the 1.8. The 1.2, is amazing, but it’s way too big for an everyday 35. I like compression, so I’m really not a 35 guy. When I use my 35, I’m usually with my family, crawling around on the floor, on a nature walk or bike ride, or at a bar or a restaurant. It is also the focal length I find myself handing over to someone else to use. So, while it’s the best, the 1.2 is just too damn big.
I’ve had all three of them. If the 1.8 had a control ring, it would be a tough decision for me. I’m a sucker for 1.2 and 1.4 - since the 1.4 has a control ring, that’s where I have landed for now. Is it perfect no, but I am enjoying the handling and the performance so far overall. I need more time though. Let’s see what happens.
