250MP Pixel Shift Series – Frankfurt Central Station in Color & Monochrome (Two-Part Fine Art Interpretation)
As part of a personal fine art series, I created two Pixel Shift interpretations of Frankfurt Central Station – one in color, one in monochrome. Each final image consists of 16 sensor-shifted exposures captured with the Sony A7R V and merged into a 250MP high-resolution file.
For context: Pixel Shift works by slightly moving the sensor between each exposure, allowing for extreme detail and tonal precision – but only if absolutely nothing moves during the entire sequence.
That was the hardest part: this location is never truly still. Trains are constantly moving, the bridge vibrates, and even minimal motion can destroy the entire sequence. In total, it took me about three hours and many failed attempts until I finally managed to complete a few clean series without any vibration or disturbance. You wouldn’t believe how rarely there is even a single full minute of complete stillness.
Which version speaks to you more – the emotional color edition or the stripped-down monochrome interpretation?
