I acquired D800E’s when they were first released some years. Having 36mp to play with was a real game changer, for me, at the time. I then moved on to D810’s and D850’s. Having spent so much time in the Nikon ecosystem, I do miss it. I have thought about acquiring a used Z8 and adapting my Sony glass, but the difference in cover-glass thickness when shooting wider angles keeps me from doing it. Perhaps, the issue is not that serious, however(?).
I expect that you will be staying with Nikon for some time. Since Nikon glass cannot be adapted to Sony, going from Nikon to Sony will be a bit more challenging than your transition from Sony to Nikon. In any case, we’ll miss your contributions on the Sony Forum and there is always the chance that I will join you on the Nikon Forum if I go to dual systems (to take advantage of some unique Nikon lenses).
