Unusual post ... I don't see anything that was deleted, as in a prior post.
As to posting an image, it is also possible to post an image without paying.
As to paying, it is something that might also be considered as an "appreciation" gesture to Fred for all that he has done to bring / maintain FM to us. If folks have no appreciation of / for Fred, then hang on to your pennies.
And, given the nature of this post being incredibly off-topic ... why even post it at all? If your primary utility of FM is the Buy and Sell board (i.e. non-participation in the Forums), again, why post this in a Forum? Just seems rather peculiar, of sorts.
Actually, as a working commercial/corporate advertising photographer and teacher for decades, I contribute (on a few boards) when I have a contribution to make. On this particular one, you know a photography board, I was attempting to add photographs to demonstrate/support why I use the color cameras I use for B&W work. I was presented with a pop up that said uploading photographs can only be done by those with "upload and sell" status. Since I haven't been confronted with "upload and sell" to post in a thread, I deleted my post as I couldn't upload photos to properly support my post.
I support the platform and contribute when buying and selling, like on most platforms and haven't felt required to "pay to play" until that post. You've decided this thread is "off topic", so I'm not sure how a thread regarding photography can be considered "off topic" ..... on a photography board. The question the OP posed is certainly "on topic" for a photography forum. Either way, since you've appointed yourself as the person to determine why someone should post in a (this) forum, I'll leave its commentary and management to you. Thanks.
