Re: Sony RX1, RX1R, RX1R II and RX1R III Image Thread
A Week or Two with the RX1R III — First Impressions & Photo Dump
Things I Love
* Autofocus: AF-C is spot-on. Even face detection is impressively reliable—better than what I’ve seen from the Fuji GFX-RF and even the Leica Q3.
* The Zeiss Lens: The 35mm f/2 shouldn’t be dismissed just because it’s not new. Honestly, it’s the reason I picked up this camera, and I love the character, rendering, and handling.
* Compact Size: A full-frame sensor in a camera this small, paired with a fixed lens—it feels special.
* Ergonomics: Button layout and controls are thoughtfully placed. Nothing feels like it’s missing.
* Film Looks: Film Look 1 and 2 deliver beautiful out-of-camera output. Film Look 2 in particular is gorgeous.
* Overall Package: It’s just an amazing little all-in-one system.
Things I Don’t Love
* Menus: It’s still a Sony. The menu system makes me want to run back to Leica.
* Shutter Speed: Maxing out at 1/2000 feels limiting. I wish it went to at least 1/4000 and switched to electronic shutter automatically.
* Aperture Ring: No tactile indent, which makes it harder to grab than it should be.
* Screen: I miss having a flip screen. That said, the AF detection is so good that it usually nails focus anyway (though for landscapes, the fixed screen is less useful).
Re: Sony RX1, RX1R, RX1R II and RX1R III Image Thread
Week or two with the camera- Some thoughts and just a photo dump of the past week with it
Things I love-
AF is spot on perfect in AF-C. Even with using any type of face detection in is pretty well ahead of the Fuji GFX-RF and the Leica Q3
This Zeiss lens should be praised not bagged on for being older- Thats the only reason I picked this one up and I am really enjoying the look and feel of the 35/2 lens
The size is incredible. This sensor in this little camera with this fixed lens. Its pretty special
The placement and controls of the buttons are all pretty well though out. Not needing for anything
Overall this is an amzing little package
Film Look 1/2 - Beautiful out of camera output IMO. Film look 2 is espically pretty
Not loving
Its a Sony- The menu system makes me want to run back to Leica
I wish the shutter would go past 1/2000 (to at least 1/4000) and kick to ES automatically
I wish the aperture had an indent to make it easier to grab
I wish it had a flip screen but honestly the AF detect is so good, it always grabs your subject (if landscape shot its worthless)
