Price ? In theory w/o the expensive rangefinder, could be a cheaper M mount mirrorless, but I am being silly this is Leica it will not be cheaper. I suspect an EVF M will not retain value any better than my never ending apple upgrades. So it is a disposable expensive compared to something like my MP or M4 that retain a lot of value.
If it is "disposable" there is no need for construction quality for the ages, perhaps no brass, just aluminum. Probably made by robots- perhaps German robots, but still robots.
The proposed 64mb seems "cheap" compared to the 256 in my M11P unless they are doing two card slots
It looses one of the things I like about the M11P, yes the rangefinder, but it is also the rangefinder + EVF (visaflex) I can focus well with the later outdoors even in low light and then use the rangefinder to see objects coming into the patch with a 135 mm (like float planes) a mirrorless does not give out of field view-
It could be speedier than the M11P, better buffer, etc.... I bet not, the glacial boot up speed...
It would make an excellent backup camera for a M11P and substitute for things like doing macro and it would break the 135 mm limit- a 250-300 mm small lens ? or 12-14 mm, both without external finders
what the world needs is a < 5K$ mirrorless M mount not going to happen at least from Leica
Is it better than adapting to sony, nikon etc... not clear that it is. I imagine the M mount is long off patent so there is likely no issue to making a M mount mirrorless by sony nikon.... would leica survive that competition, not so sure. Would Nikon Sony do this, maybe not, not enough units to sell for them. Maybe fuji or Cosina could be hungry enough ?
Even so I expect I'll buy one whatever its limits so to have a M11P and a M(evf) and use whatever the best camera for the circumstance at hand
