Just a stroll around the capitol hill area. People were engaging the (generally bored) national guard in conversations. Found it a bit ironic wandering from Union Station over to the Supreme Court to find it is covered up, as if hiding behind curtains to the conversation going on...
I am not so sure in my military daze, someone of a higher rank would not be hollaring at me for my lackadasicale attitude holding up that vehicle.
Contractors have been sandblasting the Federal bldgs the last few years to clean them up.
I worked in DC for 43 years(2009). Both in the military(1970-1973-Pentagon) and federal service. I took the train from DC to NYC at least twice a month on business from Union Station. Never a problem. There were homeless then(1970's till now) and they are still there. Union Station is in a not so good place in DC....Sad.
I grew up in the Maryland suburbs of DC and spent many a Saturday night in the DC clubs. Both as an "attendee" and as a musician playing in the clubs. Never had a fear. Never saw any problems and all "peoples" were in presence. Some section of DC did have many problems.
There is a blatant disregard for human life and safety now and it has only increased these many years. There is mucho blame to go all around. This includes all of our Country.
I love your tones here. Really accents the "OD green" of the military and the "state" DC is in at this time! Very sharp crisp images.
Well seen "pc"!

I wanted to add post post..that the media has become 24/7 and social media is on fire so back then in my day and to 2009..it was NOT always "in your face" obvious to outside the local viewing public as to what was going on in DC..
