I was photographing this dunlin at the Marine Nature Study Area in Oceanside, NY. I've wanted to photograph one in flight for a long time so I set up and waited with pre-shoot on. I waited and waited and it did not fly so I toggled pre-shoot off and as soon as I did that it blasted off. As I was about to take my camera off the tripod I had to rush my hands back into shooting position and the first two frames were meh yet the third is the one I'm presenting.
